AI Patent Register

Our confidentiality commitment

Your invention stays yours. Before you tell us anything about your idea, this is what we promise you, in plain English.

Last updated 22 October 2026

1.What this is, and what it isn't

This is our commitment to everyone who uses AI Patent Register, including the free first step. It repeats, in one place, promises made in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which cover the same ground in more detail.

It is a confidentiality promise, not legal protection.

It is not a patent, it doesn't replace filing one, and no confidentiality promise can stop someone else from coming up with the same idea on their own. Only filing a patent application with a patent office secures your place in the queue.

2.Your invention stays yours

  • We claim no ownership of anything you submit. You keep every right in your idea.
  • The report and certificate we produce for you are yours too.
  • We will not use your idea to develop our own products, and we will never file a patent application on it.

3.We keep it confidential

  • Your idea is never sold or published.
  • No other user of this service ever sees what you submit, and no other submitter is identified to you.
  • We pass your report to a patent attorney only if you ask us to.

To produce your assessment, we send the invention text to our AI provider, Groq, Inc.. Under our agreement with them, they are prohibited from using it to train AI models, must treat it as confidential, and gain no rights in it. We send only the title, industry, problem and description, never your name, email address or phone number.

One honest limit: no confidentiality promise overrides the law. We and our providers may have to disclose information to comply with a court order or another legal obligation.

4.You control what is shared

Your certificate carries a QR code and a verification link. Verification is private by default.

  • While private, anyone with the link sees only the certificate ID, the date it was issued, and that it is valid.
  • If you make it public, they also see the invention's title, your name, and the industry.
  • Your score, your verdict and your description are never shown, either way.
  • You can switch between private and public at any time from your results page.

5.When we save what you type

  • The free first step saves nothing. What you type there stays in your browser tab. It reaches us only if you choose to carry it into the full assessment and continue to payment.
  • The full assessment saves your details and your idea when you press the button to continue to payment, before you pay, so that we can take you to checkout. If you don't pay, it stays saved as an unpaid draft until you ask us to delete it.

6.You can have it deleted

Use Request deletion on your results page, or email human@aipatentregister.com from the address you submitted with. We delete your submission, your report and your certificate within 30 days, and confirm by email.

Once deleted, your certificate's verification link stops working and your idea is removed from the anonymous comparison against other submissions. Payment records we are legally required to keep, such as tax records, are kept only as long as the law requires.

7.How we keep it secure

  • Everything sent to and from the site is encrypted in transit.
  • Your submission sits in a database whose access controls restrict each account to its own records.
  • Your report and certificate are kept in private storage that is not publicly reachable. Download links expire after an hour.
  • If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

8.Your acknowledgement

Before you submit an idea for the full assessment, we ask you to confirm that you have read this commitment, and we record when you did. You don't need to confirm anything to use the free first step.
